Location: Central London office

Salary and Benefits package: £61, 176 - £76,470 base salary, plus excellent benefits including a generous employer pension contribution up to 13%, a 4% flex cash pot to spend on benefits (or take as cash), 30 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays, discretionary variable annual performance bonus and Private Medical health cover, Share schemes and access to staff discounts!
The role is based at out central London hub location. We’re happy to offer flexible work schedules, for example start and finish times, or compressed hours!

The team
The successful candidate will be working as part of the Retail Transformation directorate delivering new features for customers across our brands in the mobile space. The Retail Lab mobile teams are fully agile and strive for excellence. As a part of the team, you'll have the opportunity to participate in internal Hackathons, coding challenges and bi-weekly platform meetings where the community shares knowledge.
About the role
In this role, you'll contribute to the technical leadership team's work of driving the technology and future of the platform. Working with the Strategy and UX/UI Design teams as well as customer organisations to architect, design, and implement solutions.

You’ll also be crafting, developing, and producing mobile components and services; resolve, apply, and improve appropriate methodologies and toolsets for customers.
Key Accountabilities
  • Maintaining a focus on reducing risk and building confidence in the team and its partners on the quality of Engineering.
  • Ensuring Engineering is conducted in a way which is consistent with the collective views, frameworks, patterns and standard methodologies that exist across the wider Engineering community.
  • Ensuring area of responsibility is aligned with overall engineering strategies and transformation, pushing boundaries and seeking opportunities to improve.
  • Open to new “thought process” and Change mind-set, bring in new ways of working/ innovative and creative ways of delivering software.
  • Typically operates in more stable labs.
What we need from you
We’ll need you to have four (or more) of these technologies:
  • Java-J2EE, Java 8, Spring Rest and Spring boot, JavaScript, jQuery, Mockito, Junit, Angular JS,ReactJS, HTML, CSS, Leaflet JS, JSP, Servlets, Azure, SQL, Docker
  • You’ll have experience in using and adopting a wide range of engineering practices and tools.
  • You'll have experience of coaching others.
  • You'll have a good level of technical maturity and is familiar with emerging technology within the engineering space.
Desirable skills
  • Unify/Centura Team Developer, UrbanCode Deploy, Git, Data Warehouse/ETL, Business Objects, Job Scheduling (Win Task Scheduler, IBM/Tivoli Workload Scheduler), VBA
